Cork Extremadura. Modernization of cork.

The Center for Scientific and Technological Research of Extremadura (CICYTEX) is a participant in the innovative Go Suber project, whose main objective is to modernize the cork extraction task.

Through the mechanization of the sac, the optimization of the uncorking procedures and the improvement of safety and health conditions. In addition, it seeks to value this product and its derivatives to improve its commercialization, developing new applications.

This objective involves testing the current corkage machines and the complementary tools used for this task, such as cork ladders or pincers. It is about analyzing their performance and ergonomics to make them more efficient and safe.

The tests of the prototypes and techniques will be carried out in parallel in Andalusia, Extremadura and Catalonia; major cork producing regions nationwide, although the results will be extrapolated to European level.
